Childbirth Exercise Videos & DVD's

By Angela Kendrick

There are several different childbirth videos you can find, keeping you inshape, fit, and healthy through all stages of your pregnancy.

The last thing most mothers feel like doing when they are expecting a baby is exercising. Even so, having a normal exercise routine can do wonders for your body no matter what trimester you are in. The best advice I can give you from the beginning when choosing a prenatal excercise video is to choose one that is for expecting mothers. After the birth of your baby, you can return to the regular exercise routines, but for now, stick with one that is just for moms-to-be.

Here is what I did. I love to walk. I walked the neighborhood. I walked the mall. But, not everyday is good for walking. So, about 50% of the time I walked, and about 50% of the time I popped in a childbirth exercise DVD and did the routine. I did my best to do one or the other every other day, so I was exercising 3 or 4 times per week. I felt great, and looked pretty darn good as well.

During your 3rd trimesters, you may want to consider sticking closer to home, using your childbirth exercise video, or if you have birthing ball. Why? Because the last thing you want to do is be out on a long walk with your baby bouncing up and down on your bladder. If you're at the mall, that's different. Just pop into a store and use the bathroom. While I loved going to the mall, I spent most of my exercise routines in front of the TV... which is just fine, but something you might want to consider.

Another option you might want to consider is the Fit and Healthy Pregancy Guide. It was not around while I was pregnant, but two of my friends used it while they were expecting. It was actually a much better routine than what I had. It does two things very well. It provides a variety of routines so you're not bored. It provides workout routines just for pregnant women. And, it also kept my friends in shape so they bounced back very quickly after the birth of the baby... very quickly.

Just click on the book on the right and look at the before and after pictures of these moms. You'll see what I meant about bouncing back quickly.

The main point I want to emphasize for moms is to be moving in some way. It is one of those things that you will never regret. You will never hear a mom say she wishes she would have exercised less. You will only hear the opposite. In many ways, using childbirth exercise videos is doing three main things. First, helping you feel good while your pregnant. Second, preparing you to be physically fit to give birth. Third, helping you recover in less time because you are fit.

One of the things that I say, as well as the other ladies on this site - have fun and enjoy this time in your life. Exercising is one of those things that will help you have more fun. Grab a friend and do it together.
